Mission statement:
Our purpose is to preserve and restore our culture and history, which has been devastated by a Cultural Holocaust. This worldwide Holocaust has put people in a state of shock; which has manifested into Intergenerational trauma. As documented by Dr. Joy Leary, Dr. Frances Cress Welsing, Dr. Farah D. Lubin, Dr. Monnica Williams among many others. We are dedicated to addressing and healing the Intergenerational trauma that plagues our community and affects the entire planet. Intergenerational trauma is the transmission of historical oppression and its negative consequences across generations. Centuries of genocide, forced enslavement, followed by systemic and structural racism and oppression, including lynching, Jim Crow laws, and unwarranted mass incarceration, have resulted in intergenerational maladaptive behaviors, which originated as survival strategies. The syndrome continues because children whose parents suffer from intergenerational trauma are often indoctrinated into the same behaviors, long after the behaviors have lost their contextual effectiveness. This is a major public health crisis that we at Edfu are dedicated to confronting. The healing of the Autochthonous community from the intergenerational trauma that they suffer from is paramount for the future progress of the planet. We recognize that the progress, growth and sustainability of our community begins through the preservervation and restoration of our culture and history. By creating safe spaces in which we are able to express ourselves and our culture, we instill self-esteem, self- love and self worth in our people. We provide mentorship and counseling which will enhance both personal, mental and moral development to counteract the intergenerational trauma we have endured. We are dedicated to helping our community heal and move forward in a cohesive fashion so that we can help humanity as a whole move forward. We have developed programs that will heal and educate individuals and groups about the political, social and economic systems in which they live, and how to affect positive change in one’s community by utilizing the Edfu Foundation. We help by encouraging interest in civic, social, economic and political affairs of our community and by taking the time to design and implement systems which work for the unique needs our community. By bringing together organizations, funding and logistical expertise. We are developing programs which promote a spirit of harmony, and prosperity which have already begun to have a healing effect within the community. At Edfu we are utilizing the teachings of our ancestors who have contributed so much in helping to create civilization and educate humanity, to help heal our community.
