    Organizational structure: The FBA Board of Directors are the governing body of the association. The Board of Directors consists of the President, President-elect, Treasurer, and 12 elected Directors who represent segments of the membership. There are three ex officio members and the Executive Director who attend Board meetings but are non-voting members of the Board. Twelve members of the Board of Directors are duly elected by the Association in accordance with the qualifications and procedures established in the By-laws of the Association. The President is the Chief Executive Officer of the Association and the Chairperson of the Board of Directors and National Council. The President-elect performs the duties of the President in the latter’s absence or inability to discharge the duties of that office and performs other duties as may be required by the President, the FBA Constitution, or the By-laws of the Association. The Treasurer is generally responsible for overseeing the financial affairs of the Association. The Directors perform all duties as required for members of the Board of Directors by the President, the Constitution, or the By-laws of the Association. There are also three ex officio members of the Board of Directors. The Board of Directors has the full power and authority to function as the governing body of the Association and to conduct any and all activities that it may consider necessary or expedient in accomplishing the objectives of the Association. It has the full control of the business and financial management of the Association. The authority of the Board of Directors is limited only by the following: (1) amendments to this Constitution and the By-laws of the Association must be approved according to the procedure established in this Constitution and the Bylaws of the Association; and (2) any decision of the Board of Directors may be altered, amended, or reversed by a majority vote of the National Council.
    Number and type of members: The Federal Bar Association is a professional network of over 19,000 individual members comprised of attorneys, judges and law students. There are four types of membership – Associate, Active, Sustaining and Honorary. Associate Memberships include all those admitted to practice law before a court or administrative tribunal of a country other than the United States of America as well as any law student actively enrolled in an accredited law school and not admitted to the practice of law before a federal court or a court of record in any of the several states, commonwealths, territories, or possessions of the United States or in the District of Columbia. The FBA’s members belong to almost 100 chapters nationwide. These chapters implement projects and hold events that directly support the mission of the Federal Bar Association.
