IWC is a nonprofit charitable corporation having been incorporated in the State of Texas in 2009 and approved by the US Internal Revenue Service as a charitable, tax-exempt entity under IRC Section 501c(3) in 2010. The volunteer Board of Directors (9 members) is elected by the attending IWC membership at IWC's Annual Meeting breakfast, held in June at General Assembly of the Unitarian Universalist Association. Terms are for three years, staggered for three Board positions turning over in each year. Four members of the Board constitute the Executive Committee and three members are at large. The Volunteer Global Sisters Leadership Council has 7 members selected and appointed by the Board for their interest in the work of the organization in their home countries or with their particular organizations. Executive Staff reporting to the Board is Executive Director (PT paid) from Romania (based in Houston, TX, USA); program staff include Founding Executive Director/Program Director (PT unpaid), American (based in Monterey, CA, USA); and Business Manager/Uganda Micro-Loan Program Director (PT, paid), American (based in Phoenix, AZ, USA). The Board Finance Committee reviews the organization's Annual Financial Report in February each year per standard best practices, then prepares a budget for the Board and for reporting to the membership. |

IWC has 1100 members from 29 countries; 95% are women; 25% are from countries other than the USA. There are 21 organizational members from UU organizations and from various organizations around the world. The governing body of IWC is a Nine member volunteer Board, elected by the IWC membership at the Annual Meeting, held in June at General Assembly of the Unitarian Universalist Association. Board Members are from: USA: 5; Germany/New Zealand: 1; Romania: 1; India: 1; Philippines: 1. Seven member Global Sisters Leadership Council is selected and appointed by the IWC Board based on interest in the organization's work.
