General Assembly (17 Members) Women's Spirit General Assembly meets at least once a year and is responsible for appointing the board of directors. All of their decisions are binding. Board of Directors (5 Members) Women's Spirit's board is comprised of 5 women from various fields: Academia; Finance; Business; Welfare and Management. The members of the Board of Directors have a responsibility to act in the framework of Women's Spirit, its objectives and in accordance with the Women's Spirit's governing document and the resolutions of the General Assembly. The board meets bi-monthly to discuss issues of finance, policy, strategy, yearly plans and more. The board sets the guidelines according to which Women's Spirit develops its programs and expands its activities. Board members also take part in the measurement and evaluation processes, in volunteers' training and in the development of Women's Spirit advocacy work. Members of the Board of Directors have a position of trust, caution and skill to act on behalf of Women's Spirit, including the realization of its objectives. The Audit Committee (3 Members) is responsible for auditing and supervising the activity of the other institutions of Women's Spirit. The members of the Audit Committee are elected by the General Assembly of Women's Spirit. As an auditing entity, an accountant may be appointed (who does not audit the financial statements of Women's Spirit and does not perform the bookkeeping of Women's Spirit). As an organization that works to promote women's financial independence and wellbeing, we believe that it is important to give every staff person the opportunity to grow and advance herself as well; staff go through professional development courses and are also encouraged to lead and contribute to others from their expertise through lectures, special initiatives and workshops delivered to staff and volunteers. Programmatic and staff related decisions are made in-house, by senior staff. As Women's Spirit is a feminist organization, the decision making process often takes under consideration staff's input and suggestions. Budgetary Decisions are made at Board meetings – yearly budgets including salaries and out of the ordinary expenses. The General Assembly appoints the board of directors, and its decisions are binding. |
