Mission statement:	We are Our Lady of Kazan Russian Orthodox Mission. We are in fellowship with the Monastery of New Skete/Orthodox Church of America. The Russian Orthodox Church first came to North America and preached in Kodiak, Alaska in 1794. Led by eight Orthodox missionaries from the Valaamo Monastery in the northern Karelia region of Russia, they made a great impact on the native Alaskan population and brought many to the Christian faith. Father Eugene Koprowski leads this mission in Chicago, Illinois. Gene was ordained a deacon in 2004, a priest in 2006, and a bishop in 2009, by the Patriarch, in the canonical, apostolic line of Saint Peter. Our mission is directed by Jesus: “Go into all the world and make disciples of all Nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all [things that He has] commanded” so that all people may be saved and come to the knowledge of the truth.''
