Organizational structure: Headquartered in New York City and incorporated in the State of Delaware, The English-Speaking Union of the United States is an independent national membership organization with more than 4,400 members organized in 65 Branches across the country. Committed ESU members and volunteers are the pillars of our educational and cultural programs as they enthusiastically work in their local communities to carry the ESU mission forward. The ESU Branches operate as limited liability companies (LLCs) formed in the State of Delaware with the English-Speaking Union of the United States as the sole member. This legal structure ensures the non-profit 501(c)(3) standing of all Branches and allows for branch management by local Board of Directors or direct management by the National Board of Directors to deliver the ESU charitable programs.
