Organizational structure: |
Animal People is governed by a board of directors. Board members are elected by their peers every two years (or by special appointment, e.g. to fill a vacancy). All board members have equal say on major organizational matters, which are decided by democratic vote. Board members are in charge of hiring a paid Executive Director, who in turn is authorized to hire additional staff in consultation with the board. |
Number and type of members: |
Animal People does not have a formal membership structure. Organizational decisions relating to leadership, governance, major programs, etc. are made via democratic vote by the board of directors. Our main project, the online ANIMAL PEOPLE FORUM, allows anyone working in animal protection or related fields to register as an "author" and submit articles and other media for publication. At present there are 894 registered authors on the Forum, though this type of "membership" neither requires dues, conveys voting power, nor implies any formal affiliation between the author and Animal People, Inc. |
