Mission statement:
The Circle of Research on the Rights and Duties of the Human Person ( CRED ) is an international research institute composed of a multidisciplinary research team on critical questions of law and international relations . CRED has 250 members (researchers, research assistants, research managers, senior research associate) in twelve countries. Endowed with the Special consultative status granted by the Economic and Social Council of the United Nations , CRED is represented in : Angola , Austria , Benin , Cameroon , Cyprus , Ethiopia, France , Haiti , Kenya , Nigeria , Switzerland , Togo , and consultations are underway for establishment in twenty other UN member countries . The bulk of it’s work consists in elaborating new international human rights standards. The focus of this work is the drafting of the Universal Declaration of fundamental duties of the person since 1999 which was the basis for its establishment in Cameroon .Fifteen institutes and NGOs were involved in this project. Various other international projects are underway, especially the draft international convention on the protection of witnesses , the draft international convention on the protection of the right to life, the draft declaration on the principles and standards of validation of an democratic election and constitution of a democratic body , the draft Comprehensive Convention on International Migration and the draft code of conduct on the exercise of freedom of expression , assembly and association. CRED therefore intends to cooperate with Governments and public institutions and the private sector as a cabinet of consulting and facilitation firm to help them in their efforts and actions to defend within international institutions responsible for issues of human rights, and their quest for new markets .This goes same for the conception and implementation of their strategic programs on the rights and duties of people, democracy, migration and the fight against terrorism and discrimination. The concept of the new international standards relating to human rights joins in a continuous process of implementation of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. This new approach addresses first and foremost the non state actors, who because of the globalization, in particular of the opening of the borders have a central role and responsibilities to play in the conservation of the international order recommended by United Nations. The new international standards relating to human rights aim essentially at building an international legislation on human rights applicable to these new actors of the international scene. The introduction of the new standards is a complementary process, which should eventually fill the gaps and the difficulties which States meet in the implementation of their obligations and international responsibilities, which is in the foundation of the current skeleton of the international instruments relating to human rights. In a methodical way, it is a question of leaving general obligations of member states in the particular obligations of the constituents of the States whom are the individuals, the families, the associations, the communities and the organized companies.
