Purpose of the organization: The Coordinator of Indigenous Organizations of the Amazon Basin (COICA), is an international indigenous organization that coordinates the efforts, dreams and ideals of nationalities, peoples and indigenous organizations in the Amazon basin. We work to promote, defend and exercise their rights life as an integral part of nature and the universal Rights of the Amazon. We are an instance of convergence of efforts for the promotion, protection and security of our territories, our lifestyles, spiritual principles and social values, cultural, political and economic. Our pre-existence as distinct peoples, is framed by the defense of life and the rainforest as free space and peace, affirming and determined to continue as a seed into the ground.
