Office of the Special Adviser on Africa

Purpose: To educate and create environmental awareness through the press and other mass media; to introduce Nigerian communities to renewable energy sources like solar dryers and cookers, energy efficient wood stoves and saw dust stoves; to mobilize the communities for tree planting as a replacement mechanism and to promote bio-gas technology; to promote urban agriculture for poverty alleviation.
Illustrative Project: The energy-efficient fuel wood stove is a project embarked upon by the organization to promote local inventions in energy conservation and efficiency. Ajido Village in the Badaory local government area of Lagos State in Nigeria, is being used as the pilot area for the project. Through the traditional ruler, the community is making an effort to incorporate the project into the school curriculum for sustainability.
