Involvement in UN Partnerships: Yes
If yes, explain in detail: 1. AsiaDHRRA’s contribution on “Strengthening the capacities of farmers, rural women and youth to drive sustainable agrifood systems” (from FAO publication) Link: https://bit.ly/4ks8MnG The FAO has worked with AsiaDHRRA on raising awareness and assessing multi-stakeholder capacity on Responsible Agriculture Investment (ASEAN-RAI), including empowering rural women and youth engagement in RAI. The FAO also supported scoping studies/research on the Digital Village Initiative (DVI), Eliminating Child Labour (ECL), and case studies on Family Farming in select ASEAN countries. Presently, AsiaDHRRA implements regional and national projects on Digital Agriculture – Smallholder Economic Empowerment through Digital Solutions (SEEDS) in Cambodia, the Philippines, and Vietnam, and Resilience, Inclusion, Sustainability, Empowerment, Unity, Progress (RISE-UP Project), a Project eliminating child labor in Agriculture in the Philippines. The valuable partnership looks forward to more cooperation on knowledge sharing and regional cooperation designed for family farmers, national plans on capacity building in the region, Country-Level Consultations on Agroecology in the context of ASEAN, and regional guidelines on sustainable agriculture. 2. AsiaDHRRA’s collaboration with the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations - Regional Conference for Asia and the Pacific (FAO-APRC) AsiaDHRRA’s initial work with the FAO-APRC was dated 12-16 March 2012 during the 31st session in Hanoi, Vietnam. The event was hosted by the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (MARD) of Vietnam, which focused on the Committee of World Food Security (CFS) – a process to map a global strategic framework on food security, nutrition, and sustainability. Below is the list of FAO-APRC sessions AsiaDHRRA participated: 3. Agroecology and the UN Decade of Family Farming (UNDFF) AsiaDHRRA, in collaboration with the FAO, has conducted country-level consultations in 2024 regarding the ASEAN Master Plan on Rural Development and Policy Guidance on Agroecology, contributing to FAO’s organizational objective on “Transforming agrifood systems in Asia-Pacific.” The country consultations were conducted in Cambodia, Lao PDR, Indonesia, the Philippines, Thailand, and Vietnam, supported by the FAO, ASSET Project – Agroecology and Safe Food System Transitions, and the Alliance of Bioversity International and CIAT. AsiaDHRRA participated in a side event on “Harnessing agroecology through partnerships to transform food systems” organized by the Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (UNESCAP), the FAO, and the Centre for International Cooperation and Agricultural Research for Development (CIRAD) on 29 March 2023 in Bangkok, Thailand. In 2022, AsiaDHRRA joined the Southeast Asian Regional Center for Graduate Study and Research in Agriculture (SEARCA) and the FAO for a case study collaboration, a joint initiative for the UNDFF program. The partnership documented and analyzed successful in-country case studies on policies, strategies, initiatives, and programs supporting family farming in Cambodia, Indonesia, the Philippines, and Thailand.

Confirmation of the activities of the organization at the regional, national or international level: 1. Responsible Agricultural Investment (CFS-RAI) This regional initiative aims to disseminate information on the CFS Principles for Responsible Investment in Agriculture and Food Systems (CFS-RAI) as they are translated or adapted into the ASEAN Guidelines for Responsible Investment in Food, Agriculture and Forestry (AGRAI); engage policymakers to integrate AGRAI in current policy frameworks; and encourage civil society organizations and private sectors to adhere to and promote RAI. The RAI framework is essential and explicitly recommended for empowering women and youth to engage in RAI in the region. Recently, the first webinar on Rural Development and Poverty Eradication (RDPE) in ASEAN was organized, which aimed to enhance the understanding of ASEAN Guidelines on Responsible Agricultural Investment (AGRAI) principles and their implementation status in the region. 2. Farmers Organization for Asia (FO4A) Farmers' Organization for Asia (FO4A) is a capacity-building program aiming to increase income and improve livelihood, food and nutrition security, and safety of family farming through greater integration of family farms in key agricultural value chains. It is a follow-up program to the previous cooperation with the EU and IFAD on the Asian Farmers Organizations Support Program (AFOSP—Farmers Fighting Poverty in the ASEAN Region (FFP-ASEAN). The project specifically aims to improve technical and economic services along the value chains for farmers' organizations (FOs) and farmer-led enterprises. 4. RISE-UP Project RISE-UP (Resilience, Inclusion, Sustainability, Empowerment, Unity, Progress) Project is AsiaDHRRA’s EU-funded initiative on “Harnessing CSO Capacities for Eliminating Child Labour (ECL) Action through Multistakeholder Partnerships and Agri-entrepreneurship” which contributes to the effective elimination of child labour in the agriculture sector through strong rural people’s organizations (young-youth, farmers, rural women). Targeted in the provinces of Bukidnon, Davao del Norte, and Maguindanao del Norte provinces, it works toward synergizing functional multistakeholder mechanisms and viable agri-enterprises where young rural youth organizations are engaged and benefit from increased family income and local organizations. 5. ACRE Project ACRE Project “Strengthening the Agency of CSOs in Developing Policy Framework for Equitable Rural Development and an Enhanced Contribution of Family Farmers Towards the Achievement of the SDGs (ACRE)” promotes rural development and agricultural policies to achieve economic growth and sustainable food systems that benefit the planet and the people, mainly the marginalized, and uphold gender inequality. The project will enhance the capacities of regional members of the World Rural Forum (WRF) to effectively lead regional policy relating to the UN Decade of Family Farming (UNDFF) 2019-2028, food systems, climate change, biodiversity, EU development policies, and the 2030 Global Agenda 2030, with a special focus on family farming organizations, women, and youth. 6. Smallholder Economic Empowerment through Digital Solutions (SEEDS) The Smallholder Economic Empowerment through Digital Solutions (SEEDS) Project is AsiaDHRRA’s recent initiative, which aims to accelerate and scale up the social and economic development of smallholder households and farmer organizations in Cambodia, the Philippines, and Vietnam through digital and ICT solutions and interventions. Specifically, it focuses on developing digital technologies for smallholder agriculture by building the capacities of smallholder farmers’ organizations. In addition, it strengthens the enabling policy and regulatory environment for smallholder digital technologies while providing a space and structure for smallholder-centric digital solutions to share knowledge on policy engagement, reporting, and learning.
