| Purpose: | To improve the quality of African life through sustainable improvements in health, food and agriculture, agro-based industries and the environment. |
| Illustrative Project: | Held workshops on biotechnology and food in April, 1994. This workshop brought together participants from 10 African countries and resource persons from the United States, Austria and Belgium. The principles of biotechnology including DNA manipulation, as they influence food from the field to the table were discussed in lecturers and hands-on lab exercises. |
