Affiliation with other organizations: Somali of north eastern Kenya. An arid region that borders Somalia to the east and Ethiopia to the north. They are projected to be around a million people whose main lifestyle is nomadic pastoral ism. they experience intermittent drought due to prolonged rain failures. conflict is the order of the day due scarcity of pasture and water for their herds. school enrollments are at 20% for boys and 16% for girls. illiteracy rates are at 92% according to the Kenya national literacy survey of 2006. HIV/AIDS rates are at 2.3% with communities still at the denial stage because Islam which is the main religion puts a heavy premium on sex outside marriage which is wholly responsible for the spread of the scourge. They have a rich culture and language that is yet to be appreciated and promoted by the government of Kenya.
