Advancement of Women

Affiliation with other organizations: WIIS is a founding member of the U.S. Civil Society Working Group on Women, Peace and Security (CSWG). The U.S. CSWG is comprised of 36 non-government organizations and was created in July 2010 to encourage and to support the U.S. Government’s efforts in the adoption of a National Action Plan (NAP) focused on women. WIIS also has strong global netwworks. WIIS is comprised of 21 international affiliates, six U.S. chapters, and has a network of 7,000 associated experts worldwide, reflecting a broad and diverse range of expertise. WIIS now has members in more than 47 countries and throughout the U.S. who are policymakers, military personnel, diplomats, legislative aides, scholars, students, journalists, and business executives at all stages of their careers. They work on issues ranging from non-proliferation and terrorism to human rights, development, environmental security, and conflict resolution.
Publications: On average, each year WIIS publishes six policy briefs on gender and terrorism, three to five reports/policy briefs on women in the military, and five reports/policy briefs as part of the U.S. Civil Society Working Group (CSWG).
