Office of the Special Adviser on Africa

Purpose: We are a grassroots organization involved in advocacy and lobbying for the rights of PWDs. We aim at infuencing policies at national, regional and community levels. We promote the participation of PWDs at all fora in socio-economic issues. NUDIPU is a voice for the disabled in Uganda.
Illustrative Project: Lobbying and Advocacy to influence policy such as the inclusion of pro-disability provisions in the 1995 Consitution of Uganda; inclusion of sign language for the deaf; inclusion of Local Government Act in 1987 leading to representation in parliament and councils (5MPs elected by PWDs, 100 councillors at district level, 1800 councillors at sub-county level); decentralization by forming district coalition for PWDs in 45 districts, and integration of deaf, blind, and the physically disabled.
