Forests

Major group affiliation: Indigenous People
Affiliation with other organizations: We work with local communities in Peru and Ecuador to help them develop their economy while conserving the rainforest. In Sani Isla, Ecuador, we are partnering with Conservación y Desarrollo on a project that combines small business development, environmental education and forest conservation. The community is creating a "studio" for arts and crafts production. The crafts use natural seeds and fibers that can be grown on already cultivated land. This protects the forest while providing an income for the local community.
