Program Videos of Intersections International: http://www.youtube.com/user/IntersectionsIntl Veteran-Civilian Dialogue: This program works to heal the rifts between the Veterans (7% of our population) who are seeking reintegration into the US and the civilians (93% of our population) who are seeking restoration of their home communities. This program utilizes the human experience (i.e. storytelling and experiential learning) as a tool to understand the impact of conflict. On college campuses it raises awareness to help students and faculty understand the intersection between the Veteran experience and student development. For example, it recognizes that OIF/OEF (post-9/11) Veterans return with hands-on foreign policy experience, particularly with the first generation of female combat Veterans returning and seeks to educate how this will affect the future of American business and foreign policy. TE’A: (Theatre, Engagement, Action) This is the Insight Theatre Initiative of Intersections. It utilizes the Insight Approach and interactive theater as a catalyst for conflict analysis and transformation. They often have cross-over programming with the other initiatives such as with Cadence: Home (Veteran-Civilan Dialgoue) and Under the Veil: Being Muslim and Non-Muslim Post-9/11 (Global Peacemaking). Believe Out Loud: This is the largest online network that empowers Christians to work for LGBT equality in their churches and communities. They have a multi-denominational Christian presence that seeks to elevate LGBT and allied faith and movement leaders. They have a national focus and reach between 1-2 million people per month. In May 2014, they had a social media post that reached over 10 million people. Global Peacemaking: • US-Pakistan Interreligious Consortium: This is a Track II diplomatic effort between faith, NGO and academic leaders who are seeking to create scholar exchanges, with a focus on religious pluralism, as a catalyst for peacebuilding between the US and Pakistan. This a link to a documentary that speaks to our work in Pakistan which was shot during our delegation in April 2013. It was recently broadcasted on ABC7 in Chicago: http://www.frakesproductions.com/2002/sanctuary-pakistan-v1/ • Healing Turtle Island: This initiative seeks to advance the relationship between the Lenape Nation (who are indigenous to New York City) and the Collegiate Church. A public ceremony was held in 2009 where the Collegiate Church officially apologized to the Lenape for their role in the genocide. Here's a link to the video highlighting the ceremony: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1oWDsuP4TdY On November 20, 2014, Intersections International, in partnership with The Lenape Center, will host an opera performance of The Purchase of Manhattan. This is the story of the colonization of Manhattan from the native perspective. In the future, this program aims to create a living museum and cultural center in NYC. |
