Affiliation with other organizations: OMEC has been working extensively with the OECD regarding crisis initiatives and consultations on the Green Growth Strategy to be presented this May 2011. A project has been developed with the Environment Ministry to desing an Index to measure, for the first time, social participation in the Environmental Sector in Mexico.It is important to mention that there are not any other Indexes of this nature in any other countries. Since 2012 OMEC has been actively engaged in the G-20 meetings drafting C-20 reccommendations and widening CSOs' participation.

Social Development

Affiliation with other organizations: MEXOC has also worked with the Social Development Ministry on a project for the identification, evaluation and measurement of social capital. As a result it has also created two Indexes regarding this subject: A Social Capital Creation Index and a; Crisis Mitigation Index. This two instruments have been extremely useful in advancing awareness on this topic in Mexico. MEXOC is currently working on a new project in this area, collecting, analysing and evaluating NGO's experiences, in order to create a "Best Practices Catalogue in terms of Social Capital Creation", that can be used both by social organisations as well as by government officials and policy makers in order to promote the creation of social capital and development.
Publications: A book called: "Investing in the creation of social capital in times of crises", Mexico City,OMEC-Indesol,2011.
Purpose of the organization: MEXOC carries out its duties with complete independence and autonomy. Promotes broad participation from various economic, political and social actors, as well as, from the academic community and well-known experts and the general public. Participates and shares information within networks of observatories and scientific bodies to forward capacity building. Provides regular, accurate, independent, reliable and peer reviewed information. Promotes awareness and public participation leading to social change, innovation and creation of alternatives to crisis.
