Purpose of the organization: TO PROMOTE ARTS IN THE AREA OF ACTING, PUBLIC SPEAKING AND WRITING AMONG STUDENTS The organization’s aims and objectives are; 2.1 The organization aims at promoting arts in the following areas: i) Writing which includes but is not limited to- (a) Plays (b) Short stories (c) Novels ii) Acting which includes but is not limited to- (a) Stage performance (b) Film acting iii) Public Speaking which includes but is not limited to- (a) Debate (b) Poetry (c) Impromptu speech (d) Telling jokes (e) Talk shows 2) The organization will endeavor to- 1) reach out to every child, school and college student in the country through writing, acting and public speaking. 2) identify, nurture and promote artistic talent among vulnerable youths from disadvantaged backgrounds. 3) promote youth participation in creating the entertainment they desire. 4) provide a platform for students to air their views through writing acting and public speaking. 5) augment writing, acting and public speaking initiatives in universities and for these activities to be regarded with seriousness as a form of Sport in these institutions 6) build an a higher educational institution for Arts 7) bring education in the form of entertainment to the rural areas. Thus each university drama group is supposed to choose a rural area that is within their vicinity and perform for the residents in that area. The organization will take advantage of the gathering to give out scholarships and educational material to rural students. 8) promote, organize and co-ordinate stage acting/drama and public speaking competitions at district, provincial and national level and to award bursaries/ scholarships to best performing students. 9) print and publish student literary and artistic works and transform them into novels and / or plays that can be used for educational purposes as set books or read on the national radio for entertainment. 10) sell the published material on behalf of students thereby acknowledging and promoting their work since they will enjoy profits from sales proceeds. 11) broadcast the stage performances, debates, talk shows for national viewing. 12) produce and publish Zimbabwean dramas, soaps and movies performed by students. 13) cater for education fees and other needs to less privileged students at any level of education in the rural and urban areas especially resettled areas which have not yet developed at the moment 14) encourage student participation in raising funds to educate their fellow students for school fees and providing educational needs for them through sponsored walks and school projects. In doing so, the organization seeks to instill a sense of responsibility which entails that: • each student should know that they are their brother’s keeper • there should be change in the students’ academic and social behavior so that they will in turn make a difference in society. • students should stand up and be counted in society. 15) hold workshops that will improve students’ art performance. 16) plan organize and co-ordinate talk shows for participants from a tender age to college level. 17) promote and build confidence in students through art performance.
