Office of the Special Adviser on Africa

Purpose: To facilitate the process of gender equality and equity, women's empowerment, and social transformation at all levels.
Illustrative Project: In 1995 we supported women political contenders and financed their campaigns. Eight of them were elected as constituency MPs. We also carried out democracy and voter education in three districts. Information generated there was used to produce information sheets, posters, and flyers which were used during the campaigns throughout the country to sensitize people. We also produced two popular booklets "Kwangu Wapi" (The girl child asking where do I belong), and "Kondom yazua Kasheshe" aimed at the youth and community to discuss sexuality and HIV/AIDS. TGNP's contribution has been recognized nationally.
