Association for the Advancement of Sustainability in Higher Education: The Global University Network for Innovation (GUNi) together with other higher education organizations including the Association for the Advancement of Sustainability in Higher Education (AASHE) (USA/Canada), Australasian Campuses Towards Sustainability (ACTS) (Australia/New Zealand), Environmental Association for Universities and Colleges (EAUC) (United Kingdom/international), the Korean Association for Green Campus Initiative (KAGCI) (South Korea) and the Copernicus Alliance (Europe), have began the process of shaping the Rio+20 discussion so that it would include higher education as a part of its deliberations.
We began this process by discussing why the critical role of Higher Education Institutions to Global Sustainable Development must be central to Rio+20 discussions. As a result of this debate it was produced a joint document which was submitted the 31st of October of 2011 to the Compilation Document process that will guide discussions at the conference. |
