Building Green Futures is supporting the construction of a "Green School in Gaza". Built for the same price as a traditional school, the standalone building relies on renewable and free locally available resources (rainwater, solar and ground energy) instead of waterworks and energy grids. Once completed, the school will provide an education for 1500 children in the Khan Younis area of southern Gaza. The project is implemented in partnership with UNRWA and Mario Cucinella Architects (MCA), with the financial support of the Kuwait Fund for Arab Economic Development through the Islamic Development Bank. The capacity building and knowledge transfer component of the project is managed by "Building Green Futures" responsible for the organization of workshops and on-the-job training sessions during the design and construction phases. |
