Involvement in UN Partnerships: Yes
If yes, explain in detail: - FIESP and DMA have signed, since 2010, a Memorandum of Understanding with the United Nations Environmental Program (UNEP), to enhance action related to environmental management and sustainable consumption and production. The MOU has the main purposes: o Providing a framework of cooperation and understanding and to facilitate collaboration between the Parties to further their shared goals and objectives in regard to the development and implementation of effective sustainable production and consumption by businesses and public institutions as well as other related issues of mutual interest, within the scope of the Parties respective regulations, rules and standard business practices. o Acting in close cooperation with each other to consult, as appropriate, in regard to matters of common interest, with a view to facilitating the effective attainment of the objectives set forth in their respective areas of responsibility. o And the following objectives: ¿ Regular dialogue meetings between UNEP and the FIESP, as mutually agreed; ¿ Execution of separate cooperation arrangements, if and when needed, between the Parties and considering their own possibilities and conveniences to define and implement collaborative activities project and programs related to the following: • Emerging issues in the realm of environment and sustainable development. • Raising industry awareness for implementation and use of the UNEP Responsible Production Handbook. • Raising awareness of relevant industry stakeholders on the use of UNEP developed Life Cycle Management tools. • Dissemination of other relevant information, including UNEP developed environmental management tools and publications.
Affiliation with other organizations: FIESP an DMA have been a member of Brazilian delegation in many international and national processes, commissions, conferences and committees as well as events, like ISO/TC 207, the environmental committee in the International Standard Organization where Brazil is a P-Member, participant with the right to vote; and the Conference of Parties on Climate Change negotiation processes are presented as the main examples. - FIESP and DMA, regarding the importance of civil society and Sao Paulo industries engagement in climate change issues and related issues have organized and participated in many initiatives. Briefly, the most relevant initiatives have been: o Low Carbon Campaign with the following objectives: information to the local population on the streets; organizing seminar to the industrial sector. o Partnership with the Brazilian Carbon Bureau (BCB) in order to provide industries free orientation on how to identify potential projects within the Clean Development Mechanism (CDM), as well as how to trade carbon credits. o Creation of the “Frequently asked questions – FAQs” section at FIESP’s website concerning climate change, global warming and the Clean Development Mechanism, with the intention to facilitate the access to information for industries interested in the subject. o Hostage of the launching meeting of the Brazil Pro-Climate Alliance, with the goal of bringing together companies as well as others interested in the Climate Change topic. o Organization of two courses on “Capacity building on Clean Development Mechanism projects”, together with the National Confederation of Industry (CNI) and the Brazilian, Ministry of Science and Technology. o Creation of an internal Climate Change Working Group composed by five of FIESP’s Departments: Agribusiness; Competitiveness and Technology; Environment; Infrastructure; and International Affairs and Foreign Trade. The Working Group main goal is to establish the position of Sao Paulo’s industry concerning the COPs, in order to be able to help and influence the Brazilian government within the negotiation process.

The main products and results that DMA and FIESP have been providing to São Paulo State and the Brazilian industry can be summarized as: - FIESP’s Environmental Week, in its 13th edition in 2011. - FIESP’s Environmental Value Prize, which has been recognizing best environmental practices in industry for 17 years. - FIESP’s Water Conservation and Reusing Prize, which has been recognizing best practices in water resources efficiency in industry for 6 years. - FIESP’s Ecodesign Prize, which has recognized the best practices in sustainable product design in industry for 2 years. - An Industrial Waste Stock Exchange tool which has been giving the opportunity to recycle waste or even and reuse it as raw material. - The Environmental Newsletter, DMA’s monthly publication that for 6 years now has been disseminating the main environmental News for Brazilian industry, government and society. - Various communication media like folders, brochures and also videos on environmental issues related to industry. - Various events like seminars, workshops and conferences, as well as web seminars on DMA’s main themes and products, whose results remaining available at FIESP’s website afterwards.

Social Development

Confirmation of the activities of the organization at the regional, national or international level: Social Development Social Development: Activities of Sesi, Senai and Cores, in the areas of education and health. 1-SESI - Industry Social Service: Activities in Sports & Leisure (“SESIdança”, “SESIacademia”, “Viva Sports”, “Super Vacation”, “Leisure Shop”, “Circuit leisure and adventure”, “Dance Festivals”) Activities at the enterprise level (SESI company in Gymnastics, Sports Academy, Circuit SESI race, SESI Games, corporate Training) Activities at the School-level (Sporting Events, Children's Tournament, School Sports, Physical Education) Training and sports performance - (SESI –“ athlete of the future” - Volleyball etc.) Nutrition: Programs and Initiatives: 1) Nutritional guidance, 2) Clinical Nutrition, 3) Program “Pleasure of Being Well”, 4) Food and nutrition, 5) Program “Eat well”, 6) Program “at the right flavor”, 7) Professional Qualification, 9) Program “Experimental Kitchens”. Social Responsibility Social Responsibility: Social actions, income generation, fashion, Visual arts, social development, program “global action”. Culture Culture: Performing Arts, Music, Visual Arts, Audio Visual, Literacy, Theatre and Education and Training. Education: Elementary School Middle school Youth and Adult Education (literacy and telecourse) Continuing Education (high education and digital inclusion) SESI Education System (for municipalities) Senai - National Service of Industrial Learning: Senai offers technological education in over 160 units (schools fixed and mobile) distributed throughout the State of Sao Paulo. In 2010, Senai / SP reported more than 867,000 enrollments in their courses, which provide a professional qualification of the young for their first job. Social Responsibility Committee – “Cores” This Committee has promoted, annually, for the past five years, the event "Exhibition of Environmental Responsibility", which presents the main actions of the industry in the area of social and environmental, bringing together great experts on the thematic of sustainability.

Forests

Affiliation with other organizations: Fiesp, through its Department of Environment and the Department of Agribusiness, monitors and participates directly in the debate of all legislation regarding these issues (Forest conservation, agriculture and environment), and also in several instances of environmental licensing process, always advocating harmony between forest conservation and economic development. Fiesp gathers representatives of either farmers, or companies that work with the planting of forests for industrial use, or representatives of biofuels producers Fiesp participates as a representative of industry in specific forums regarding the forest conservation theme, such as the Council of the Biosphere Reserve of the Green Belt in the Metropolitan Region of São Paulo (largest biosphere reserve by UNESCO in urban areas, in the world), and the National Biodiversity Commission – CONABIO, inter alia.

Public Administration and Development Management

Involvement in Public Administration: Representing the largest industrial park in the country, Fiesp enjoys great respectability of the three spheres of government: municipal, state and federal levels, and because the industry is being crucial in the process of sustainable development, the institution acts in consonance with the governments in general and specific topics. Fiesp participates as a representative of the sector in several Industrial governmental forums such as the National Environmental Council - CONAMA, the National Council of Water Resources, the State Environment Council - Consema, the State Council on Climate Change, the State Council of Water Resources, the State Board of Sanitation, the City Council for Sustainable Development in Sao Paulo, the state Council for Energy Policy - Cepe etc.
