Office of the Special Adviser on Africa

Purpose: To provide unconditional practical care and support to individuals afflicted and affected by HIV/AIDS; to promote the development and equipment for sustainable community programmes to combat HIV/AIDS; to empower youth and other community groups to make own choices about their lifestyle based on sufficient information and to participate in combating AIDS/HIV; advocacy for the rights, privileges and involvement of people suffering from AIDS and infected by sexually transmitted diseases.
Illustrative Project: Educational activities and training courses in Mbale; income generating activities in Kampala; lifestyle education programme with regard to AIDS; participation in the development of 'Just Life Skills Manual' in collaboration with UNICEF and the Government; participation in an AIDS consortium collaboration study in cooperation with ODA and other NGOs.
