Office of the Special Adviser on Africa

Purpose: To promote and facilitate regional integration and cooperation in mining in Southern Africa.
Illustrative Project: In 1991 undertook review of the climate for investment in SADC member countries in order to advise on deficiencies in the policy framework. This was followed by an international conference on mining in Southern Africa. The conference was attended by project promoters (from SADC) and investors from Europe, North America, and Japan. Ministers from SADC countries explained their policies aimed at attracting investment.
