Office of the Special Adviser on Africa

Purpose: Monitoring compliance of Government and other parties to the Human Rights Manifesto for Sierra Leone. Monitoring compliance of Government to all international human rights and humanitarian law treaties to which the Government of Sierra Leone is party. Campaigning against all forms of human rights abuses. Training and advocacy on human rights issues and publishing an annual "State of Human Rights in Sierra Leone" report.
Illustrative Project: Carried out research on behalf of the Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights on socio-cultural arrangements of possible complementary value to the proposed Truth and Reconciliation Commission for Sierra Leone. The research focused on traditional methods of conflict resolution among the 14 ethnic groups of Sierra Leone.
