Office of the Special Adviser on Africa

Purpose: SLYED aims at increasing the capacity of young people and their opportunities for self development. It seeks to combat anti-social behaviour to promote positive citizenship.
Illustrative Project: Empowering youth to build peace and promote food security in communities affected by severe conflict in Sierra Leone. The project is located in the Northern Province with funds provided by the Diana Princess of Wales Memorial Fund (UK), Village Aid UK and NCRRR (Sierra Leone). The project has the following four components: Agriculture, Literacy Development, Entrepreneurship/Small Business Management, Conflict, Peace Building, Civil Education and Human Rights.
