| Purpose: |
Promoting the utilization of Jatropha curcas L. (JCL) plant and seeds with the overall goal to provide the oil as an environmental sound energy resource, substituting diesel and paraffin; support afforestation; create income generating activities by marketing the plant. |
| Illustrative Project: |
Since 1997, BUN has achieved the following: processing of JCL seed for multi-purpose benefits; demonstrating the viability of JCL as a full; processing certain by products of JCL such as soap and fertilisers; income generating through marketing soap, fertilizers, paraffin and diesel substitute. |
