Office of the Special Adviser on Africa

Purpose: Community-based organization which focuses on women abuse and women's issues. Nisaa is committed to bridging that which can bring women together as a cohesive group and that which distinguishes each of us as an individual. Nisaa is opposed to all forms of oppression, exploitation and violence against women, and subscribes to the principles of non-sectarianism and social transformation. Nisaa is dedicated to promoting and acknowledging women's self and collective empowerment and their contribution to politics, economics, social, and community-based activities.
Illustrative Project: The White Ribbon Campaign, which coincided with the International Women's Day (8 march 1997) involved the distribution of a pamphlet to high schools and under-resourced communities in Gauteng, together with an educational talk. The event received significant media coverage and due to the success of the White Ribbon Campaign there is the possibility that will be extended nationally.
