Office of the Special Adviser on Africa |
Purpose: |
To create self-employment opportunities for both men and women residing in the rural areas of Swaziland. Our overall objective is to train men and women in the technical and business skills necessary to establish small commercial enterprises within their homes. This way, we establish a pool of skills which can assist rural development. |
Illustrative Project: |
In 1997, Balolongi trained 34 young men and women in metal works and buiding skills in northwest Swaziland. The trainees have formed groups and started their own businesses. Balolongi has thus created self-employment and capacity building by offering training. |
