To improve conditions for gender relations to flourish in a free and tolerant environment. To participate and ensure gender equity and equality on our campus and in national policy-making processes. To develop women's studies and gender studies programmes in University faculties. |
| Illustrative Project: |
The Gender Forum particpated in the Women's National Coalition during 1992 - 1994. Dr. Sheila Meintjes from the Political Studies Department coordinated the research for the WNC as a member of the Research Supervisory Group. Prof. Jaqueline Cock was also a member of the RSG. The WNC produced the Women's Charter for effctive equality. Our advocacy has challenged the codes in the university. |
