Office of the Special Adviser on Africa

Purpose: The Presidential Trust Fund is engaged in self-employment and job creation, thus alleviating poverty. It manages a credit scheme based on the Grameen Bank Model. 98% of its clients are women and 2 percent youth, mostly male.
Illustrative Project: The Grameen Bank Model of lending adopted by the Presidential Trust Fund for Self-Reliance in 1996 has issued a total of 4,000 loans to 2,600 member clients. So far, a total of $742,038 has been disbursed and employment created for more than 2,600 people.
