Office of the Special Adviser on Africa

Purpose: Mother and Child African Relief Organization is a small organization committed to: alleviate the sufferings and pain of the silent victims of poverty and disease, increase the understanding of the epidemiology, pathogenesis, clinical manifestations and methods of treatment of AIDS among medical practitioners where the illness has become endemic; bring primary health care and education of the grass-roots level in Africa.
Illustrative Project: Prepared a colloquium on the "Challenges of HIV/AIDS, in Addis-Ababa, Ethiopia from 4-6 January 1999. The Colloquium considered the impact of the Addis epidemic on poverty and was organized in collaboration with eminent scientists in the field of HIV/AIDS.
