Office of the Special Adviser on Africa

Purpose: The core mission of WWBG is to enhance the economic status of micro and small scale women entrepreneurs by raising their living standards through business training, business counseling, information dissemination, networking opportunities and provision of savings and credit facilities. This is meant to facilitate their integration into the economic mainstream, thus facilitating their economic empowerment.
Illustrative Project: WWBG provides financial and technical services to micro and small-scale entrepreneurs, mainly women. Since 1991, when WWBG went into direct financial services and micro finance activities such as savings mobilization and granting of credit and loans, we have had 12,449 savers and 1,167 loanees as at September 1997. WWBG has also trained over 2,000 participants in formal and informal business and financial management and export since WWBG became operational in 1988.
