Purpose: |
Generally, the purpose is to create awareness on and arouse interest in environment and development in respect of management, protection, and conservation, and to research into these areas. Specifically, (1) arouse interest on the effect of environmental degradation; (2) encourage conservation of natural resources; (3) educate on municipal/transboundary waste management; (4) facilitate environmental development, etc. Modality is also set out clearly, e.g. model examples, sustainable public education drive (PED). |

Designed and modelled cleaner production alternative for local palm-oil mill, which eliminates the noxious fumes and recycles the wasted shell for production of local soap, in the Ikwerre local government area of Rivers State (Niger Delta Region), Nigeria. Most recently, in December 1999, the INTERFED opened/established in the Ikwerre local Government area of Rivers State in the Niger Delta Region of Nigeria, a fish farm for breeding fish, particularly endangered species and returning them to the sea. The first return is due in January 2001 after much public education on their protection. |
