| Purpose: | Located in the second largest slums in Kenya, poor water supply, squalid slum shelter and joblessness contribute positively to the acceleration of HIV/AIDS pandemic, particularly in women, amongst whom the mortality rate is very high.. As a result, we are supporting HIV/AIDS orphans as a non-profit organisation, and helping expectant mothers and trying to upgrade the living standards of our members. |
| Illustrative Project: | Because our memberhip consists of largely slum-dwellers, we build houses for those amongst us made homeless by the El-Nino rains. Through membership collections, we have been able to save money to begin self-help projects like basket-weaving and small curio shops. We help feed and look after the general welfare of the orphans of AIDS victims. |
