Office of the Special Adviser on Africa

Purpose: The AACC is a fellowship of Christian organizations and churches. It seeks to highlight the demands of the Gospel to Churches and National Christian Councils regarding their life and mission especially in areas of evangelism, witness service and unity through consultation and action. Because of the escalation of conflicts since the end of the Cold War, conflict prevention and resolution have become the main priority of the All Africa Conference of Churches. The Conference responds whenever member churches invite it to help. In the field of conflict prevention and resolution, the major activities are mediation, citizen diplomacy, fact-finding and early warning. In Rwanda, Burundi and Congo, the Conference carries out a specific programme concerned with initiating a dialogue amongst conflicting parties, in order to search for common ground. This programme is supported by churches from all over the world.
Illustrative Project: The AACC has held workshops, compiled and published reports on the role of churches in democracy and development.
