Shelter Forum, at the national level, played a lead role in the revision of government building by laws, culminating in more performance-oriented building laws that address the needs of low income groups. Shelter Forum also continues to popularize the use of appropriate building technologies (ABTs) and approaches such as the ferrocement roofing tiles (FRTs) and stabilized soil blocks (SSBs). The organization also advocates for the formulation of standards of these technologies by the relevant authorities such as the Kenya Bureau of Standards to increase their acceptance within the informal sector. |
