Office of the Special Adviser on Africa

Purpose: PHENIG's mission is to offer education, health and human services to Nigerians and in an effort to enhance their ability to contribute to the socio-economic, environmental and cultural fabric of the country. Our vision is to not only influence those in need but also those in power. We intend on closing the gaps between the 'Haves' and 'Have Nots' in health and education.
Illustrative Project: 'Project Access' is an HIV/AIDS elementary school curriculum awareness project. This is a project that innovatively incorporates HIV/AIDS education and awareness in the daily school curriculum of elementary school children in Nigeria. This program is under inplementation in Ijoko Ogun state, a rural township in Southwestern Nigeria. This program is using a teaching model defined by the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) to identify HIV/AIDS and teach preventive measures to youth at an age best adapted to behaviour modification. The goal of the project is to promote abstinence and modify behavioural concepts in regards to safe sexual practices at the youth level.
