Purpose: | To help adult illiterate women (mainly those above 30) to learn to read and write in vernacular and in English. This enables them to acquire skills in health and nutritional management as well as numeracy and income generating skills. |
Illustrative Project: | The organization enrolled 14 women aged over 30 in conventional adult classes. Women volunteers from WOLIVOG exposed them to literacy, numeracy and some economic activities. Within 18 months 4 could read and write, motivating more women to attend the literacy classes. They also learnt to make soap and were exposed to health programmes, improving their standard of hygiene. |
