Social Development

Affiliation with other organizations: EGAN is an active member of Children’s Network in Mozambique (RDC), FONGA- Forum for NGOs in Gaza, MONASO- Network of civil society in Mozambique working in HIV/AIDS, SANTAC-Southern African Network Against trafficking and abuse of minors, Network Against Sexual abuse of minors (CAME), Community of Saint’EGIDIO organization, AGRA-Agriculture Green Revolution in Africa, Mozambique research institute (IIAM) and participates regularly in learning and sharing events
Purpose of the organization: The organization’s mission is to evangelize and contribute to the development of viable and sustainable households and communities in Mozambique, to promote and enhance the capabilities of its people to effect positive change that would necessitate the development of their communities by having a decent living and achieve well being through capacity building and public awareness mainly in the areas of food security and nutrition, home based care and treatment, counseling, advocacy in gender equality and human rights, education, good governance, climate change, Information technology, water and sanitation, vocational training for income generating programs, and given humanitarian assistance to vulnerable groups in the communities and other Christianity oriented programs
Activities relevant to the conference of States Parties to the convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities: • EGAN implemented “Improving food security and nutrition for people living with HIV/AIDS” (PVHS)”- “Rapid Results Fund”. This involved the inclusion and participation of persons with disabilities in the design and all phases of the implementation of the project in Macarretane • “Advocacy for Children’s rights to Education in Chókwè” which highlight the issues of educational quality, equity and HIV/AIDS prevention and dissemination of IEC material in three schools. All children including disabled were the direct beneficiaries of the project • Strategies to combat trafficking of persons and Abuse of minors in Gaza Province”. This project improved vulnerable children’s level of access to information and knowledge about their rights and responsibilities as citizens. This increased the acceptance of person with disabilities which were addressed as one of the direct beneficiaries that leads no non-discrimination and non-stigmatization
Confirmation of the activities of the organization at the regional, national or international level: • Expansion of Lionde Primary School and improving access to quality education in Lionde, Chókwè district”. This highlights the issues of quality education, equity, premature marriage, SRHR, hygiene, sexual violence and HIV/AIDS prevention • Improving food security, nutrition and health for orphan and vulnerable children in Boane”- PEPFAR • Baseline survey/research on the assessment and effect of HIV/AID, STIs and TB impact on OPWAY workers in partnership with AGEMA (KAP assessment in communities along the road and construction workers) • Improving food security and nutrition among people living with HIV/AIDS and Tuberculosis • Investigate the effect and effectiveness of assessing the quality of services of institutions working to combat trafficking of persons‚ Abuse of minors and Children’s rights abuses in Gaza Province • Advocacy for Children’s rights to Education in Chókwè district • Capacity Building of Association Maria da Luz Guebuza in Agric-Business, Climate resilient promoting strategic partnerships among farmers and stakeholders thereby increased their livelihoods and revenues, hence realized high yield in food production • Organization and Capacity Building of youths in production of charcoal, honey and environmental conservation • Improving Food security and Nutrition among vulnerable Children & HIV/AIDS

Description of the membership of the organization, indicating the total number of members: ADMISSION Membership can be granted to individuals or groups of people whether nationals or foreigners as long as these accept the principles, internal regulations and the association’s discipline defined in this constitution Members are classified into the following categories: a) FOUNDERS- Those who came up with the idea of forming the association. b) ORDINARY – Those who affiliate themselves after the creation of the association. c) BENEVOLENT- Those who gave or will give the association material or financial support and as an acknowledgment the General assembly awards them this category. d) MEMBERS WITH FULL RIGHTS- Are churches and Christian organizations and religious associations with the same ideologies EGAN has 55 members including volunteers
