| Purpose of the organization: |
To promote Human Rights Education in Brasil and Latin America, aiming to contribute for the implementation of National Human Rights Program, National Human Rights Education Program and the United Nations World Program for Human Rights Education. This mission is achieved by means of the following programs: a) Education Program: which promotes training and courses about the Human Rights tematics and b) Justice and Social Participation: which is focused in articulating strategic matters regarding the elaboration an approving of policies and advocacy actions. Nowadays, IDDH is focused on lobbying actions and advocacy. Currently, the IDDH is the Executive Secretariat on the Brazilian Committee for Human Rights Education and Foreign Policies (dhpoliticaexterna.org.br), being in charge of coordinating 6 (six) videoconferences to articulate relevant matters before and after the Human Righs Council sessions, setting the political agenda and making its accountability afterwards. Moreover, the IDDH has performed as part of MERCOSUL Social and Participative Programme focal group. |

At the national level: a) Annual Human Rights Course: This course aims to offer training and education for Human Rights defenders addressing thematics such as the inter-American System of justice as well as ONU and MERCOSUL systems. b) “Projeto Educar” (Educating Project): This project aims to offer courses and trainings for primary schools teachers regarding Human Rights Education and implementing the National Plan of Human Rights Education. At the international level: a) Brazilian Committee for Human Rights Education and Foreign Policies: The Institute for Development of Human Rights has participated in this committee as its Executive Secretariat in 2010. The institute has assumed this post again in 2014 until 2015. b)Social and Participative MERCOSUL Program: Project focused on advocacy actions for the creation of the Human Rights Education Plan of MERCOSUL. |
