Purpose of the organization: Following the lack of robust legislation safe-guarding the rights of people with disabilities in Nigeria, WEAN intensified our advocacy drive on disability concerns.
Activities relevant to the conference of States Parties to the convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities: During the lead up to the recent constitutional amendment, with support from UNDP/DGD I, WEAN made presentations on gender and disabilities issues in the south-south geo-political region
Confirmation of the activities of the organization at the regional, national or international level: Advocacy drive brought disabilities concern to for between 2012-2014 in the National assembly. It also facilitated the bill sponsored by Abike Dabiri 30th April, 2012. Which seeks to ensure full legislation of Nigerians with disabilities. More so, Dec. 15th, 2015 the National disability bill was passed into law thus making Nigeria an inclusive society for persons living with disability

Description of the membership of the organization, indicating the total number of members: 3,000 registered members which spread across women educators at the tertiary, secondary, primary and pre-primary levels. We also admit women educator from the informal and non-formal sectors as members.
