Office of the Special Adviser on Africa

Purpose: CDEA would like to collaborate with the Office of the Special Adviser on Africa (OSAA) so as to access support to publish of Mashariki: Culture Understanding and Peace Building Journal that includes artists, cultural and security researchers articles focused on addressing issues on peace, security and development in East Africa. CDEA also plans host an annual Pan-African high-level forum, through its East African Thinkers platform, related to the role of culture in the peace, security and sustainable development agenda in East Africa.
Illustrative Project: CDEA publishes a biannual publication Mashariki: Culture Understanding and Peace Building Journal. It serves as a space for connecting artists, cultural and peace and security researchers, policy makers and organizations working on diverse aspects of culture and peace building; a venue for conversations about the critical challenges confronting peace building in the region and showcasing how culture-based interventions can lead to social cohesion.
