Purpose of the organization: To empower lives and create a resilient society where everyone most especially children and young people have access to basic and fundamental human rights and needs. to ensure every child and young person have the needed protection and secure future through education, child protection, heath, WASH, and food security in Ghana. To empower youths through technical and vocational skills training and to contribute towards the achievement of the SDGs.
Activities relevant to the conference of States Parties to the convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities: Advocacy for inclusive education and disability friendly facilities in the education sector towards the achievement of the SDG4.
Confirmation of the activities of the organization at the regional, national or international level: 1. Global Young SDGs Activist Summit 2022 The Summit will be a platform for the discussion and reflection on the challenges and efforts made by young people and their respective governments towards the achievement of the SDGs. It shall address the needs and opportunities available for young people, governments and the world at large in achieving the global goals. This Summit will provide young people from all over the world with an excellent opportunity to meet face to face, network, collaborate and partner to create lasting solutions towards the achievement of the global goal by 2030 and beyond. Summit Objective: To provide a global forum that brings young people worldwide to network, discuss, understand, share success stories, challenges, efforts made by their respective governments, find solutions and develop global youth related strategic frameworks for achieving the SDGs by 2030 and beyond. Expected Participants: This Summit shall bring together a total of one thousand Young people between the ages of 1535 from Africa, Europe, America, Asia and Australia who are contributing towards the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals in their respective countries across the world. Experts in the field of sustainable development, climate change, networking and advocacy will also be invited. 2. National Junior High Debate Competition Project This is a project that is aimed at empowering and raising eight thousand (8000) young leaders (pupils) annually by unleashing the act of public speaking in them through district, regional and national debate competitions in purely Ghanaian public Junior High Schools. The project will also promote and enhance the act of reading, writing, researching, presenting and ensuring the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goal 4 (SDG4) Quality and Equitable Education for beneficiaries. Project Objective: The project objective is to coach and mentor pupils to develop strong communication skills to become dynamic, incisive and assertive leaders in society. Produce 8000 students with leadership skills in public speaking annually. Specific Target Beneficiaries: As results of the vulnerable situation in which school children most especially girls and boys in public schools find themselves, this project will target pupils (girls / boys) of form 1&2 Junior High School (JHS) between the ages of 12-15 years including pupils with disabilities. This project is expected to benefit about eight thousand (8,000) directly or indirectly from district, regional and national levels across the country within one year of it implementation. 3. United Nations 2022 International Youth Day Celebration: This activity which is a day event which would be celebrated on the 12th August aims at bringing Ghanaian youth under one umbrella to promote the contribution of youth towards the achievement of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. The event would be held in the capital of Ghana Accra. This would be observed in partnership with youth focus and led organizations in Ghana.
A list of members of the governing body of the organization, and their countries of nationality: 1. Madam Lucy Quainoo is the Executive Board Chair. She is a Ghanaian and was nominated by the previous board and was approved by the general management during the first quarter general assembly meeting in January 2020 in a democratic way. 2. Mr. Bismark Amoah is Executive Board Member. He is a Ghanaian and was nominated by the previous board and was approved by general management during the first quarter general assembly meeting in January 2020 in a democratic way. 3. Mrs. Barbra Kissi is Executive Board Member. He is a Ghanaian and was nominated by the previous board and approved by general management during the first quarter general assembly meeting in January 2020 in a democratic way. 4. Mrs Amanda Addo is Executive Board Member. He is a Ghanaian and was nominated by the previous board and approved by general management during the first quarter general assembly meeting in January 2020 in a democratic way. 5. Joseph Tettey Afangbe is the Executive Director and Board Member. He is a Ghanaian and was nominated by the current board and was approved by the management during the first quarter general assembly meeting in January 2020 in a democratic way.
Description of the membership of the organization, indicating the total number of members: We have 16 members all from Ghana , Africa Types of Membership: a. Full Membership A full membership status applies to all individuals who believe in our vision and mission and are ready to devote their time fully in achieving and supporting our course. An individual shall attain a full membership status by applying formally to the organization via mail expressing his / her interest to become a full member of the organization. He / She after attaining the full membership status shall dully and actively participate in all YVLG activities including decision making, planning and project implementation activities. He / She shall have the right to represent YVLG at all stages whenever the need arises. He / She have the right to enjoy benefits that come with the services he / she is rendering on behalf of the organization. b. Part-Time Membership A Part Time Membership status applies to all individuals who believe in our vision and mission and are ready to devote their time partly in promoting and supporting our course. An individual shall attain a Part Time Membership Status by applying formally to the organization via mail expressing his / her interest to become a Part Time Member of the organization. He / She after attaining the Part Time Membership status shall dully participate in some specific YVLG activities base on his / her availability and interest. He shall have a limited power including decision making, planning and project implementation activities. He / She shall have the right to represent YVLG at some stages whenever the need arises. He / She shall have a limited right to enjoy all benefits that come with the services he / she is rendering on behalf of the organization. c. Volunteer Membership A Volunteer Membership Status applies to all individuals who believe in our vision and mission and are ready to devote their time fully or partly in promoting and supporting our course. An individual shall attain a Volunteer Membership Status by applying formally to the organization via mail expressing his / her interest to become a Volunteer of the organization. He / She after attaining the Volunteer Membership status shall dully participate in some specific YVLG activities base on his / her availability and interest. He / she shall have a limited power including decision making, planning and project implementation activities. He / She shall have the right to represent YVLG at some stages whenever the need arises. He / She shall have a limited right to 7 enjoy all benefits that come with the services he / she is rendering on behalf of the organization. He / she may work from distance both abroad or locally depending on the schedule that best suits him / her. He/ she shall have a flexible work schedules to willingly support the organization virtually or physically.
