Gestos' General Assembly is an external body and a decision-making space where we approve our strategic action plan. They meet once a year. We have three hired coordinators, elected by direct vote by all members, with two-years mandate. The executive director is also an elected post. Together they manage all Gestos' programs and strategic actions. The programs developed by GESTOS have the objective of empowering people living with HIV and AIDS and groups in vulnerable conditions to face HIV/AIDS. The three program areas –Human Rights, Strategic Policies and Organizational Development –give political meaning to the institution’s projects and activities. Through these programs… …. We develop and reinforce conceptions of education and psychosocial assistance to people living with AIDS and populations in vulnerable conditions based on Human Rights approach; … We support human rights policies and implementation of democratic cultures towards gender equity, economic equality, positive ethnic/race relations and sexual citizenship; … We strengthen and articulate collective agendas with social movements at different levels to monitor multisectoral public policies to overcome HIV and AIDS. … We implement administrative actions with strong M&E focus to increase our internal and external accountability, in accordance with institutional programs and policies that are based on democrat principles. Strategic Lines: Our activities are based on experiences of gender, race, and sexual citizenship. These dimensions permit the analysis of structures of inequality that present as fundamental conditions of social and personal vulnerability. Population we work with are, mainly, but not restricted to: Women, Youth, Transgender people and MSM infected of affected by HIV and AIDS. Gestos works along five strategic lines: 1. Psychotherapy services and mutual help groups for women, transgender and gay people living with AIDS and their families that includes strategies to adhesion to ARV treatment; 2. Legal advisory services for people living with AIDS, human rights entities and legal system professionals; 3. Educational services: a) For women, transgender and gay people living with AIDS (Leadership Program); b) For networks of women and young women living with HIV/AIDS (Capacity Building Program) c) For health, education, law and human rights’ professionals (Training Program) 4.
