Purpose of the organization: | We also focus on Economic and Social Development of the many indigenous students that attend the Brigham Young University of Hawaii where they are awarded scholarship that enable them to work at the Polynesian Cultural Center to fund half of the expenses for their tuition at the university while the other half is funded by the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints thus helping them complete an undergraduate degree. The mission of the university is to provide education opportunity for many island students so that they can return home and be assets to the development of their island states. We also have student clubs, which preserve cultural values of indigenous students and provide the support network they need to complete their education. The university also is in partnership with the Polynesian Cultural Center where we preserve and portray cultures, arts, and crafts of the indigenous people of Polynesia. |
