Mission statement:
AIM-WEST works for the rights of Indigenous peoples in the field of human rights, treaty rights and constructive agreements between governments and Indigenous peoples, including cultural, tradional, and spiritual freedoms and access to ceremonial and sacred sites. AIM-WEST advocates for prisoner's rights, especially political prisoners, and for the adoption of Minimum Standard of Rules for the Protection of Prisoners. AIM-WEST seeks for governments to sign and implement the UN Declartion on the Rights of Indigenou Peoples. Further, AIM-WEST works toward the elimination of racial discrimination and racist mascots in sports, public schools, the arts, and challenge institutional racism wherever it is found.
