    Organizational structure: MWAN is the largest organization comprising women in the medical professions in Nigeria with branches in 29 states of the federation. The parent body is the Medical Women's International Association MWIA, which has consultative status with the Economic Emergency Fund and the United Nations Educational Scientific and Cultural Organisation. Liaison is maintained with the Planned Parenthood Federation, the International Federation of University Women and the International Council of Women, amongst others.
