Mission statement:	Mosaic was established in 1993 after extensive research had been done to determine the priority needs of victims of violence. Activities to fill the gaps in service delivery began with the training of “grassroots” women from within specifically targeted areas to be community workers and court workers in those same areas. Mosaic is an organisation with a strong understanding of and expertise in the field of domestic violence. It is a community based, non-governmental organisation (NGO) with a specific focus on preventing and reducing abuse and domestic violence, particularly for women and youth living in disadvantaged communitiesMOSAIC’s vision is to work towards a society free of abuse and domestic violence. Mosaic is a non-profit organisation that enables abused youth and adults to heal and empower themselves in dealing with domestic violence and abuse. We work in partnership with government and other service providers in communities in the Western Cape, with prevention, promotion and service delivery in the Eastern and Northern Cape, and parterships in Kwa Zulu Natal and Gauteng provinces. Our mission is to heal and empower people, specifically women, against abuse and violence in their homes and communities and to contribute to the building of communities where people stand for their human and legal rights. Information, education and communication activities about Sexual Reproductive Health and referrals to the safe abortion option offered are well integrated in all MOSAIC's programmes. SRH rights are integrated into educational and support messages and services in communities and in courts where clients are assisted with protection orders. MOSAIC’s SRH clinic in return identifies and refers women who need additional Mosaic services to counsellors in the field. Mosaic operates in three distinctly different but related sectors namely: •Services that offer social support and access to justice. These services assist people to interpret their issues of abuse and violence to take appropriate action •Accredited counseling and other skills training for members of the helping professions •A comprehensive reproductive and sexual health service and HIV/Aids programme Social Enterprise and capacity building and training programme

Organizational structure:	Mosaic has 80 employed staff members. The Executive Director, Finance and Human Resource Manager, Operational Manager, Clinical Manager, and SOcial Enterprise and Training manager forms the Top Management. The Mid-Management consists (including the Top Management) of 3 Programme Managers, of which two are Social Workers, a Monitoring and Evaluation Manager, a Professional Nurse, an Accountant, and for 4 Area Zone Managers. The councelling staff consists of Social Auxilliary Workers, Court Counsellors, and assistant clinical staff. The structure is supported by an Adminsitrative and Logistical Secretariat, and a Marketing and Fundraising unit.
Number and type of members:	MOSAIC Board consists of 10 members, with a Chairperson and a Vice-Chair, and 8 members. The Executive Director is an ex officio member of the Board.
